HMS Ambush

Astute class submarine HMS Ambush is pictured during sea trials near Scotland.
Ambush, second of the nuclear powered attack submarines, was named in Barrow on 16 December 2010 and launched on 5 January 2011. Having now completed her initial dive, she is in the final stages of fitting out whilst preparing for an extensive programme of sea trials. She will sail for her home port of Faslane in 2012.
The seven Astute Class boats planned for introduction to the Royal Navy are the most advanced and powerful attack submarines Britain has ever sent to sea. Featuring the latest nuclear-powered technology, the vessels will never need to be refuelled and are capable of circumnavigating the world submerged, manufacturing the crews oxygen from seawater as she goes.
The Astute Class are also quieter than any of her predecessors and have the ability to operate covertly and remain undetected, despite being fifty percent larger in size than the Royal Navys current Trafalgar Class submarines

EDITORS COMMENTS
The print captures the majestic HMS Ambush, an Astute class submarine, during its sea trials near Scotland. This nuclear-powered attack submarine is a testament to Britain's technological prowess and naval strength. Named in Barrow on December 16,2010, and launched on January 5,2011, Ambush has successfully completed its initial dive and is now undergoing final fitting out before embarking on extensive sea trials. As one of seven Astute Class submarines planned for introduction to the Royal Navy, Ambush represents the epitome of advanced maritime warfare capabilities. These vessels are equipped with cutting-edge nuclear-powered technology that eliminates the need for refueling and enables them to circumnavigate the globe while submerged. Remarkably, they can even produce oxygen for their crews from seawater as they traverse oceans. Beyond their impressive technical features, these submarines boast unparalleled stealth capabilities. Despite being fifty percent larger than their Trafalgar Class predecessors in size, they operate covertly and remain undetected by enemy forces. The Astute Class submarines will undoubtedly play a vital role in safeguarding national security interests while projecting British power across international waters. With completion nearing and preparations underway for her home port at Faslane in 2012, HMS Ambush stands as a symbol of Britain's commitment to maintaining a formidable naval force capable of defending its shores and contributing to global peacekeeping efforts.
