EDITORS COMMENTS
The print captures the intense action at Basra Airport, as a Sea King Mk4 skillfully lands on the dusty ground. This powerful aircraft was an integral part of 845 & 846 Naval Air Squadrons' operations in Southern Iraq, where they were entrusted with multiple tasks during their tours of duty. Despite being stationed in a war-torn region, the dedication and professionalism of these brave individuals remained unwavering. Even amidst continuous front line operations, they found time to practice for various events out in the field. In this particular moment frozen in time, a member of the Royal Air Force medical team is seen being winched down from the back of the aircraft. The Sea King aircrew consisted of a Royal Marines Corporal, two skilled pilots, and this essential medical team who were always ready to respond to any medical emergencies within Southern Iraq's Multi National Division area. The image showcases not only their expertise but also highlights their commitment to providing immediate assistance when needed most. As sand swirls around them due to the powerful down draft created by landing, it serves as a reminder that even under challenging circumstances, these heroes remain steadfast in fulfilling their duties.
