Harriers Leave HMS Ark Royal For Final Time

This image has been digitally manipulated for artistic effect.
A Harrier GR9 takes off from HMS Ark Royal for the very last time, whilst a Seaking helicopter hovers in the background.
GR9 Harriers from 800 Naval Air Squadron and 1(F) Squadron Royal Air Force launched off the deck of HMS ARK ROYAL this morning, for the last time. They had embarked 5 days previously prior to ARK ROYAL paying a visit to Newcastle, the place of her birth. This will be the last time that the deck of the ship will see fast jets, as she is to be decommissioned

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we witness a poignant moment in history as Harriers bid farewell to HMS Ark Royal for the very last time. The image has been digitally manipulated to enhance its artistic effect, adding an ethereal quality to the scene. A Harrier GR9 gracefully takes off from the deck of HMS Ark Royal, symbolizing the end of an era. As it soars into the sky, a Seaking helicopter hovers in the background, seemingly paying tribute to its departing comrades. The GR9 Harriers belong to 800 Naval Air Squadron and 1 (F) Squadron Royal Air Force. They had recently embarked on ARK ROYAL, spending five days onboard before their final departure. This significant event was preceded by a visit to Newcastle, where this iconic vessel was originally born. As these fast jets leave their temporary home behind, it marks a solemn moment for both naval and aviation enthusiasts alike. The decommissioning of HMS Ark Royal signifies that her deck will no longer witness such powerful aircraft taking flight. This remarkable photograph captures not only the beauty and power of these magnificent machines but also serves as a reminder of the ever-changing landscape within our armed forces. It is a testament to the dedication and service provided by all those involved in Joint Force Harrier and Naval Strike Wing operations.
